Hiking Outfits for Your Color Season

September 9, 2026

I get asked a lot whether "dressing for your color season" is really just for going-out clothes and makeup, and honestly, it works just as well on trail. The same logic that makes a lipstick or a sweater look right on you (or slightly off) applies to a moisture-wicking tee or a fleece jacket. Once you know your season, picking hiking layers stops being a guessing game of "does this random neon orange work on me" and turns into just checking a palette.

I pulled together a full lookbook, one set of hiking fits for each of the 12 color seasons, using pieces from four brands I actually wear on trail: Outdoor Voices, Alo Yoga, Vuori, and Halfdays. Every piece below links out to shop it directly.

Not sure what your color season is? I built a free app called StyleMeMama that finds your color season, body shape, face shape, and Kibbe identity so you can shop smarter and use your closet better. Available on web and iOS. Find your season there first, then scroll to your match below.

Deep Winter

Deep Winter can go almost as dark and saturated as Dark Autumn, but everything should stay cool instead of warm — navy over brown, magenta over rust.
